When driving at a speed of 55 mph, it is recommended to maintain a distance of at least five car lengths from the vehicle in front of you. According to the Colorado State Patrol, 685 of the 2,860 fatal and injury-causing accidents investigated last year were caused by speeding. It is important to note that exceeding the posted speed limit is considered speeding and could lead to a citation.
Although this does seem like a strict idea, it seems to be very beneficial.
