Colette, a driving instructor with 30 years of experience, shared a story about how impatient drivers can be dangerous for learners. She explained that when learners are already nervous, impatience from other drivers can cause them to make silly mistakes that could lead to accidents. Unfortunately, Colette had a couple of incidents where drivers displayed impatience toward her and her learners. In one instance, a driver became aggressive towards her, even after she reminded him that she was with a learner driver. In another instance, a driver honked his horn and drove into the back of her car, causing her student to panic and stall the car. The driver was so close that he also hit Colette’s car while trying to move off.
Thankfully, the driver had to pay for the repairs to her car, but it was still an unnecessary situation. It’s important for all drivers to be patient and considerate, especially when there are learners on the road. Just remember these are 15-year-olds, and driver’s ed is for students with limited to no experience, so please be patient with them on the road.
