Tips to Drive in Rain

While driving

  • Slow down(Wet roads reduce traction)

  • Increase following distance(Double it if it’s heavy rain/torrential downpour)

  • Turn on headlights (Helps you see and be seen)

  • Brake gently and early(DO NOT suddenly brake!!!)

  • Steer smoothly(It is important to not make sharp moves or movements)

If Hydroplaning happens

  • Stay calm 

  • Ease off the gas (don’t brake hard)

  • Steer straight until traction comes back

Extra things to remember

  • Be careful on bridges, overpasses, and painted lines: They get slick first.

  • Crack a window or use a defogger if windows fog up.
