A man named Lester Wayne Barnaby, aged 68, has been accused of drug-related offenses. An investigation revealed that he had presented fake driving school and DUI school certificates to the courts. The Criminal Investigation Division shared on Facebook that they executed a search warrant at Barnaby’s home on Ridge Road in Caryville on Friday. The division started the investigation after they suspected that Barnaby was creating fraudulent certificates. During the search, deputies discovered computers, electronic storage devices, printers, firearms, drugs, and more than $5,600 in cash. Barnaby has been arrested and charged with various crimes such as possession of illegal substances, drug paraphernalia, and possessing a firearm while committing a felony.

3:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, law enforcement officials were notified by the Lawrence Police Department that a chase had started after officers saw a vehicle going 100 mph on Iowa near 19th St. – right next to the University of Kansas campus in the central part of the city. The suspect was later identified as 22 year-old Josue A. Padron. The Sheriff’s Office said the chase ended near Northwest Lawrence after Padron, who was headed west in the 800 block of N. 1800 Rd. – the Farmer’s Turnpike – recklessly drove head-on into oncoming traffic. First responders said they were able to slow the vehicle to a stop before Padron collided with any other vehicles. He was taken into custody and arrested.

Thaddeus Tobias Thompson, 39, was charged with driving under the influence while his young son was in the car Sunday morning in Lisle. Police said Thompson appeared to be impaired, and they also found his 5-year-old son in the car. Police recovered 100 grams of cannabis and alcohol from the vehicle. The child was turned over to a family member, and thankfully he was not injured during the incident.

It’s unfortunate to hear that Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, a talented wide receiver, was recently apprehended on charges of reckless driving and speeding.
