Coach Sumlin DUI

Maryland football coach Kevin Sumlin was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Florida. He refused a breathalyzer test and was released on bond. Sumlin, who previously coached at Houston, Texas A&M, and Arizona, serves as Maryland’s co-offensive coordinator, tight ends coach, and associate head coach. Head coach Michael Locksley expressed support for Sumlin but did not specify the punishment. The DUI charge carries a $1,000 fine and a six-month jail sentence.
Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident that occurred, and we are grateful for that. However, we are deeply concerned about the coach’s behavior of driving under the influence of alcohol. This is a serious offense that could have resulted in a tragedy.
