Man Murdered 71-year-old Woman in DUI

The California Highway Patrol says a man was driving under the influence when he caused a crash that killed a 71-year-old woman Monday night near Selma. Officers found the van of Chul Kyu Shin which had rear-ended an SUV, and a passenger in the SUV was killed. Chul Kyu Shin was determined to be driving under the influence. There were four people in the SUV, and the impact killed 71-year-old Maria Esquivel of Clovis who was sitting in the back seat. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 76-year-old man driving suffered minor injuries as did two other women aged 72 and 26-year-old. Shin was not injured and was arrested for felony DUI. The investigation is ongoing.

We hope the 3 other passengers in the car are recovering well, and that Maria’s family gets justice. It is so awful to lose a loved one, let alone to drunk driving. Just remember, stay safe on the road, and if you need any DUI School, A-1 is here to help!

President of School Board Pressured to Resign After Second DUI

Residents of Riverside County are calling for the resignation of a school board president who was arrested on suspicion of DUI for the second time. At a recent meeting, a parent expressed disappointment in the president’s repeated mistakes and demanded accountability. In the past, the president has been known to use profanity during public meetings, causing concern among parents. His recent DUI arrest has only intensified calls for his removal from the board. The incident reportedly occurred when the president hit a parked car while driving under the influence. When confronted about the incident, he referred to it as a personal matter and did not indicate any intention to resign. However, some board members have called for his resignation, citing a violation of the board’s bylaws and a failure to set a positive example for children.

It’s great to see that the parents won’t shirk accountability for their child’s actions. It’s important to recognize that our actions have an impact on others, and to take responsibility for them. The child should apologize to those affected, because although it is a personal matter, people have a right to know who is making decisions for their children. If you or a loved one is in need of a driving school that can help you through DUI school A-1 Driving Schools is more than glad to help!

The Fatality Rate for Young Drivers Significantly Decreased!

Great news! According to a recent report from a non-profit coalition of highway safety offices, the rates of fatal traffic collisions involving drivers under the age of 21 have significantly decreased. In fact, the most at-risk demographic is now 38% less likely to be involved in a fatal collision, and 45% less likely to be the victim of a fatal collision.

However, we know that young drivers are still seen as the riskiest group behind the wheel, but let’s not forget that they are still learning and growing. The report suggests that education and staggered privileges have been key factors that have contributed to the decline in fatal collisions, and we can continue to improve upon these measures. If you need assistance with learning how to drive safely call A-1, we’re happy to help!

Let’s celebrate this positive change and keep working together to make our roads safer for everyone!

Coach Sumlin DUI

Maryland football coach Kevin Sumlin was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Florida. He refused a breathalyzer test and was released on bond. Sumlin, who previously coached at Houston, Texas A&M, and Arizona, serves as Maryland’s co-offensive coordinator, tight ends coach, and associate head coach. Head coach Michael Locksley expressed support for Sumlin but did not specify the punishment. The DUI charge carries a $1,000 fine and a six-month jail sentence.
Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident that occurred, and we are grateful for that. However, we are deeply concerned about the coach’s behavior of driving under the influence of alcohol. This is a serious offense that could have resulted in a tragedy. We urge all drivers to never drive under the influence of any substance and seek help if they struggle with addiction. We hope that the coach receives the necessary assistance to overcome this problem. If you or a loved one needs help with a DUI just reach out to A-1 Driving Schools, and we can help you!

How to Drive in a Roundabout

  1. Slow down when approaching a roundabout and yield to traffic already in the circle
  2. If there are no vehicles in the roundabout, you can enter without stopping.
  3. Remember that once you enter the roundabout, you have the right of way.
  4. Only stop when you’re ready to exit the circle.

That’s how to drive a roundabout. If you did not understand this, we can help at A-1 Driving Schools, please reach out anytime.

Always Use Seatbelts

A driver was arrested for DUI manslaughter after a fatal crash Wednesday evening in Hernando County. When the driver, Reinier Casola Rodriguez, 38, failed to negotiate a curve in the road, the truck entered the center median. The passenger in the front seat, a 34-year-old man who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, then fell out of the truck. Officials said Rodriguez fled the scene on foot but was later found by deputies. The passenger who fell out was taken to a local hospital but later passed away from his injuries. Two other men in the truck, 29 and 47, had minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital, but Rodriguez was taken for his minor injuries. Leading to his arrest for DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, driving while license suspended involving a death, and felony battery for allegedly striking a nurse who attempted to provide him medical care.
We hope the victim’s family gets justice, and we hope that the other men in the truck are ok. This shows how necessary it is to drive with someone you trust and to always buckle in. No matter what you should buckle your seat belt when you’re in the car because you never know what’s going to happen and if you’re going to be safe, so why risk it? 2 DUI’s in 2 Consecutive Days

A Texas woman was arrested for two DUIs in two consecutive days during her drive to West Palm Beach this week, according to officials. Mery Lefler was arrested and charged with DUI in Escambia County on Monday, followed by a second DUI charge in Sumter County on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the 55-year-old woman from Sherman, Texas, was passing through Bushnell when she was stopped by a trooper, the arrest report said. Lefler allegedly almost crashed into the trooper and his patrol car, the report added. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on Interstate-75 around 1:40 p.m., which revealed several BOLOs were active for the car as it continued to swerve down the highway, the arrest report said. There was an odor of alcohol coming from Lefler’s mouth, and the trooper said he noticed she had constricted pupils and spoke with slurred speech, the report continued.

If you have a DUI you should not be back on the road unless you are fully ready and not intoxicated. Mery Lefler before getting back on the road should have went through a DUI class, and she should have gotten a loved one or a taxi to drive her . If you are any way shape or form struggling with what Mery is struggling with, don’t be afraid to get help. A-1 is here for you with our online and in person DUI class.

Happy Halloween!

Hi everyone! We hope you have had a fantastic year so far, and we would like to remind you to stay safe on the roads this Halloween. As we all know, Halloween is a holiday that often involves alcohol consumption, which can make the roads particularly dangerous. According to statistics, the average 20 to 24-year-old American male drinks four alcoholic drinks on Halloween night, and 19% of men and 12% of women binge drink on this occasion. This is especially risky when it comes to driving. Most people go to Halloween parties to drink and have fun, without thinking about how they will get home safely.

We strongly advise you to avoid driving under the influence, and instead opt for different sources of transportation such as Lyft, Uber, or a trusted friend. Your safety and others safety on the road is of utmost importance, so please remember to make responsible choices and have a great Halloween!

Paroles and DUIs

A man convicted of two murders and released from prison earlier this year has been arrested. Pearl police and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that James Williams was arrested for DUI Friday evening in Pearl in front of a business on Highway 80. According to officials, Williams wrecked his car in a ditch. Williams was convicted of murdering his dad and stepmom back in 2002. “As prescribed by law, parolee James Reynolds Williams was taken back into custody by MDOC agents after his arrest by Pearl Police on a DUI charge,” according to MDOC Commissioner Burl Cain. “That is a parole violation charge by Mississippi statute. MDOC will generate a Parole Revocation Package to be reviewed and ruled upon by the State Parole Board.”

We hope Williams gets the treatment he needs so that any of the loved ones of his parents feel better about their deaths. If you did not know this beforehand getting in a DUI crash is a violation of your parole. If you need to know more about consequences of driving pay a visit to A-1’s website, and look at driver’s education, defensive driving, DUI/risk reduction, clinical evaluation and treatment, and victim impact. All of these courses help immensely with getting on and on the road for the first time.
